I provide representation as a business intermediary and advisor. Small businesses typically have seller's discretionary earnings from $200,000 to $1,000,000. Middle market businesses typically have seller's discretionary earnings of $1,000,000 and up. You need a seasoned business professional to manage the complex process of representing your company for sale confidentially while still providing your company broad exposure to prospective buyers. I'm a CPA with over 20 years experience in corporate finance. I have access to buyers of small businesses and middle market companies including private equity firms, closely held companies, high net worth individuals and public companies seeking acquisitions in the private sector. 
 
DeFoor Services, Inc. (DSI) specializes in small and middle market businesses with transaction prices from $750,000 to $15,000,000. DSI has strategic business relationships that provide DSI with many additional resources for small and middle market companies not utilized by many other business brokers and intermediaries. 
 
Qualified professional intermediaries will not cost the business owner money. They will actually make the business owner money.
  • If the seller is not motivated by something other than price, the business is not likely to be sold.
  • Asking a price that is unrealistic is the number one reason businesses do not sell.
  • The importance of well-maintained records and company data cannot be over-stressed.
  • Financial information must be complete and timely.
Georgia is a real estate license state for selling businesses, meaning you must have a real estate license to legally sell businesses in Georgia. However, you need someone with more than just a real estate license to represent your business for sale. The skill sets involved in confidentially and knowledgeably representing a business for sale are entirely different than those used to sell real estate. I'm a licensed CPA, licensed real estate broker for business brokerage and former officer and board member of the Georgia Association of Business Brokers.

If you need an independent valuation of your business, we can provide one through an experienced third party business valuation firm. If you are thinking about selling but don't know if the time is right, we can consult with you to help you evaluate the timing.
